New York - Day 3

 Times Square is formed by the junction of Broadway, Seventh Avenue, and 42nd Street, brightly lit by numerous digital billboards. Originally known as  Longacre Square it was renamed Times Square in 1904 when The New York Times Square moved its headquarters to a newly erected building which is now One Times Square.

Sixth Avenue is a major thorough fare that runs from Franklin Street in Dowtown Manhattan uptown to Central Park. The avenue's official name was changed to Avenue of the Americas in 1945 to honour "Pan-American ideals and principles" throughout North, Central and South America.

The Radio City Music Hall  theater and entertainment venue is located on Sixth Avenue and 50th Avenue within the Rockefeller Center complex. It opened on December 27, 1932, as part of the construction of Rockefeller Center.

St. Patrick's Cathedral is located in a city block bounded by Fifth Avenue, Madison Avenue, 50th Street, and 51st Street, directly across from Rockefeller Center. It is the seat of the Catholic Archbishop of New York and the largest gothic Catholic cathedral in North America. Construction of the cathedral commenced in 1858, with work halting in the  1860s during the American Civil War. It was finally finished in 1878 and dedicated on May 25, 1879.

The Rockefeller Center is a complex of 19 buildings lying between Fifth and Sixth Avenues,  48th Street and 51st Street. An original 14 art deco buildings were commissioned by the the Rockefeller family in  1932. Construction began in 1931 providing vital work during the Great Depression that followed the Wall Street Crash in 1929. The first building opened in 1933, the core of the  the complex being completed in 1939.

The Prometheus statue depicts the Greek legend of the Titan Prometheus who brought fire to mankind.

The Top of the Rock observation deck on the 70th floor of the Rockefeller Centre main tower is 260 m (850 feet) above street level. It is the upper most part of a triple-story observatory on the 67th to 69th floors.
